Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for providing excellent customer service?  Do you thrive in environments where no two days are the same? Join our team in this vital role where you’ll wear two primary hats in support of the City as a Human Resources Technician and as the City Information Desk Receptionist.

In this position, you will: 

  • Provide confidential and specialized clerical support for programs like recruitment, benefits, risk management, and employee relations. 

  • Offer assistance to employees and the public, sharing helpful information about City programs and services both by phone and at our Information Counter. 

  • Handle a variety of essential tasks such as switchboard operation, data entry, and general clerical duties. 

  • Work Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional evening, weekend, or overtime hours. An alternative workweek schedule is not available for this position.

Qualifications: 

  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
    • Two years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience.
    • Experience working in human resources or workers’ compensation is highly desirable.

  • Possess Human Resources experience in a government setting such as a City, County, Public School, or Special District. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage and operate the City Hall Information Desk during City regular business hours. 
  • Answer questions and direct visitors by phone, in person, and e-mail regarding all City services.
  • Draft and send notices and letters to employees. 
  • Create and maintain employee files with all necessary paperwork. 
  • Log, track, and route forms and memos to relevant divisions. 
  • Stay informed about trainings and HR updates to contribute to a monthly newsletter. 
  • Open and distribute mail to the appropriate staff. 
  • Compile required paperwork for new hire packets. 
  • Process invoices and create purchase orders in the database. 
  • Research and respond to employee verification requests. 
  • Plan, conduct, and develop training sessions. 
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for staff meetings.
